In partnership with the Federal and State governments of India, Akshaya Patra, implements the largest NGO run midday meal program in the world and is addressing the linked challenges of extreme hunger and barriers to education in India.

"Cause is not the enemy of commercialism but perhaps the new key to it.” - John Wood

Akshaya Patra is bringing together one hundred solutions-oriented innovators and thought leaders from public, private and civil society sectors to align, act and invest to solve some of the most pressing challenges in India especially classroom hunger, education and women’s empowerment in an integrated way. The event will showcase Akshaya Patra’s model which feeds 1.76 million children each day in 15,668 schools across 12 states in India. We will also discuss emerging evidence-based solutions for greater impact that target key sustainable development goals, and create a space for individuals and institutions to work together to accelerate sustainable impact both within India and beyond. We see a future that is food secure and equitable, where learning and education are possible and accessible to all. We invite you to join us in shaping how to get there.

why akshaya patra?

We are a trusted partner of over 15 thousand schools and nourish 1.7 million children every day with wholesome food. These free daily lunchtime meals are widely recognized as one important reason for significant increases in school enrollment and retention, particularly for girls.

We are a public private partnership meeting international ISO standards and all national food safety requirements and certifications. Our access to millions of children, their schools, parents, and teachers is trusted and unprecedented. And we are always seeking (and challenged) to elevate and expand sustainable impact. We see opportunities to broaden and deepen our impact footprint and invite non-profits, social entrepreneurs, governments, impact investors, multilateral organizations, and corporations to collaborate with us.

We envision collaboration across the entire value chain of food for education and the communities in which we operate.  This includes supply chain sustainability such as climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agricultural produce being used in our food to greening our food delivery fleet and ensuring carbon neutrality of our operations. It also means community health improvements alongside our community kitchens, place-based initiatives / investing, impact measurement, and other impact areas.
